Soviet model train layout

The layout represents a small station somewhere to the north of St. Petersburg (Leningrad) in the Karelian forests. The size of the layout is only 1.5m * 1.0m.

On the left side the main tracks disappears into the tunnel under a road. Behind it the locomotive yard is located.
Locals are drinking beer at the train tracks.

Behind the tracks the forest starts.

 An old asphalt rural road.

Locomotive storage yard to the right, to the left box bars are being unloaded.

A VL10u (Vladimir Lenin, 10th modification) electric dual section locomotive even nowadays forms the backbone of goods transporters through the entire post soviet space. This model is hand made by me.

Same locomotive, from the side, here both sections of this 8 axle locomotive are visible.

VL10 locomotive pulling a typical 50 car train on the mainline St.Petersburg - Vyborg - Helsinki.

Switcher house.
Passenger platform to the right of the layout. A typical train of grain cars standing on the outer track.

Grain cars at Kiev Pitryvka station.
A local train consisting of some old sleeping cars arrives at the station. An old lady is sitting on a standard soviet green bench, that used to be present at any station.

Low platform for rural stations. Picture taken at Motovilovka, Ukraine.

The local train is pulled by a M62 diesel engine. Again, a widespread engine, throughout the entire USSR. The model is made by ROCO.

Another local train that uses this station is a DR1A diesel multiple unit. This 4 car model is in a classic dark red color a very rear factory model made by Sokol.

TEM2 shunter locomotive. This model is hand made by a modeler in Russia.

A ChME3 mainline / shunting diesel unit. More than 5,000 locomotives of this series were built for the Soviet Union , making this one of the most massively built locomotives in the world. Model is from the new PIKO.
Here a ChME3 in Kiev, Ukraine.
